Suborbital flight / Experience
Suborbital flight points the way toward space travel and Uniktour Space is proud to be the Canadian leader in this market. We plan to send our first astronauts by the end of 2007.
The experience…
The suborbital spacecraft makes his way onto the tarmac and takes off just like a conventional aircraft. It climbs rapidly to an altitude of 20,000 feet. At that moment, the astronaut-pilots switches on the rocket engine and continues it’s near vertical climb.
When the engines are shut down, you feel the effects of weightlessness while the spacecraft takes flight. Through the window, you will witness the spectacular view of Earth, a view originally only reserved for privileged people.
After a few minutes, you will start the descent. The thermal protection safely transfers the excessive heat obtained from re-entry, thus slowing the descent. The day ends with a reception and the honour of getting your civilian astronauts wings!
Introduction to suborbital flight…
Our space craft takes off from Oklahoma City spaceport, U.S.A. just like a corporate jet (horizontally) to gradually rise at 80 degrees and climbing to an altitude of 100 km above Earth, the frontier of space! This suborbital flight will allow you to feel the effects of weightlessness for about 5 to 10 minutes and to observe the cosmos obscurity before getting back to Earth just like a regular aircraft.
Advantages of suborbital flight…
Suborbital flight gives you the exact same sensations as a prolonged flight in orbit. Aboard a suborbital flight, you will reach the space frontier and float in weightlessness for a few minutes. Our speed does not permit us to sustain constant orbit around the Earth (Orbital flight).
