Your Pilot: John B. Herrington
Former NASA Astronaut
US Navy Commander (Ret)

An Oklahoma native, John B. Herrington is joining Rocketplane directly from assignment as Commander for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, stationed at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Herrington was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma and holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

As the first Native American Astronaut, Herrington was the Mission Specialist on the Space Shuttle STS-113 Endeavor that flew to the International Space Station on November 23 to December 7, 2002. He is an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma and an inductee into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame. Commander Herrington received numerous special honors during his years of service in the Navy and has logged over 3,800 flight hours in over 30 different types of aircraft. He has experienced 330 hours in space, including 3 EVAs totaling 19 hours and 55 minutes. Herrington will also serve as Chief Test Pilot of the XP Spaceplane.
